A Millionaire’s First Love
Starring: Hyun Bin, Lee Yeon-Hee

Synopsis:

mfl1.jpg
Hyun Bin plays an heir to a large hotel chain. He is orphaned, therefore, when his grandfather passes away, he is expecting to get everything. But what this multi-millionaire did not expect is what his grandfather had up his sleeves. In order for this young millionaire inherit the fortune, he is to be sent to a small school in a small village where his father (and him) grew up in and graduate there. Unwillingly, Jae-Kyung is transported there and is enrolled into the school. The school’s headmaster is a good friend of his father and the main purpose of sending him there is so that this millionaire can be straightened out before he gets a single cent of the money.

mfl2.jpg
Arrogant, spoilt-beyond-belief and is only totally confident in not having to work for the rest of his life, he resisted the change and tried bribing the headmaster but it got him nowhere. There he meets a nice girl from a poor family who is tolerant but would stand up for herself if required. This gutsy girl has a secret, though.

Jae-Kyung was determined to get himself out of this rut without having to go through the whole nine yards but despite his resistance, he fails as he falls for the girl and in love with the innocent, poor but HAPPY schoolmates that he had there. And it was there that he rediscovered a past that he had intentionally forced out of his mind and memory because it was too painful.

Jae-Kyung, the millionaire, is to be transformed into a man with integrity instead of the spoilt brat that he was.

Marsha’s Take
For cry-babies, this is a movie you can’t miss. But then again, I digress because there were some parts of the movie that made me laugh like a woman high on drugs as well.

First, Hyun Bin delivered.

mfl3.jpg

Playing Bad Boy Jae-Kyung was probably something he’s quite familiar with after playing Sam Shik in “My Name Is Kim Sam Soon” but I can see that he has matured in his skill and that he has mastered the art of making it look naturally natural.

mfl4.jpg

I love Hyun Bin’s dimples, by the way. I can just stare at him smile all day! Ahem….back to the review.

Above is a really funny scene that I loved about the movie. Jae Kyung wakes up to find a very sexy girl beside him. Instead of relenting, he, instead, pushed the girl off and asks her to leave in three seconds. And when the girl tries to get funny with him, he pushes her off like she was an insect (and yet the girl bounces back). Kudos to Hyun Bin and the actress who played the sexy girl. The butler entered his part of the house with his clothes, is stone-faced. Jae-Kyung tries to explain that it’s not what it looks like and the butler just answers “Yes”. Jae-Kyung knows the butler doesn’t believe him (judging from he can see) and persisted. All three, Hyun Bin, the actress and the butler were totally awesome here. mfl9.jpg
mfl10.jpg

Lee Jeon-Hee is a very young actress with an extremely pretty face that will easily make you symphatize with her. It’s really easy to like her because her smile is genuine and the moment she starts crying, you will too. I know a lot of actresses who can cry on cue but to tell you the truth, it hurts quite bad when I watch Lee Jeon-Hee cry. There’s the innocense and absolute gullibility that makes you want to protect her that makes her perfect for this role.

Apart from the two main roles, the supporting actors were really good too. For example, this guy who played a HUGE and TALL guy with a heart of gold and the brain of a goldfish.

mfl11.jpg
He had me rolling on the ground when Hyun Bin, who didn’t want to finish school there, decided to pick on him for a fight (so that he can get out of the school) and instead of fighting back, this big buy got punched in the face and offered Hyun Bin dinner. Because of his innocense, Hyun Bin changed a little from here on.

mfl12.jpg
This vain actress who tries very hard to be good-looking and thinks that Hyun Bin is hot is very funny as well. (Pic above: She asked Hyun Bin if she looked good with the pink flower pin in her hair and Hyun Bin replied ‘like a crazy bitch’) I laughed like mad.

mfl13.jpg
mfl14.jpg

As class monitor, Eun-Wan told Jae-Kyung that he has to take the only role left in a play that they were organizing for their graduation night. Jae Kyung was told that he has to play a MAID in the play. And of course, the arrogant (and manly) Jae Kyung resisted.

mfl15.jpg
But in the end, Jaae Kyung has to participate anyway. And because he tried to make up many excuses not to practise with the rest before (injured ankle…etc), they helped him practise and excercise.
mfl16.jpg
Never had to do anything that he didn’t want to do before, Jae Kyung finds it difficult to complete the laps that he is required to do as a normal student in school.

mfl17.jpg
mfl22.jpg
Bad boy Jae-Kyung waits and sees in surprise that his friends from the city has come in luxurious cars to his rescue.

mfl18.jpg
Although this actress plays a very minor role, a rich spoilt brat who keeps throwing herself at Jae-Kyung, she’s an incredible actress. She got a nice body and a face to boot (whether it went under a knife or not, who knows?) but she’s a real beauty and a very good actress.

mfl19.jpg
mfl20.jpg

It was funny to see the many different girls who keeps throwing themselves at Jae Kyung and the way he resisted them. I don’t know, honestly, what’s so funny about it but the way the director played it out and the way the actors displayed it, it was cute, if not funny.

mfl21.jpg
The kiss scene when Jae Kyung realized thatEun Wan was his long-lost friend and that he had broken a promise to her because he had erased a part of his past after a painful lose…his parents.

mfl231.jpg
An emotional scene towards the end when Jae-Kyung realized that Eun Wan has a terminal disease and he could lose her anytime without warning. A very heart-wrenching scene beautifully performed and orchestred.

mfl24.jpg
The silent tears of a man who knows that he has limited time with a girl that he is in love with. This is a scene that contains one of the most touching words that a man (or human) can ever say.

Do you know why people close their eyes when they kiss? In that short moment that we close our eyes during the kiss, I miss you

Kat, talk about Rain, you ASK ME ASK ME ASK ME!!! Of course, I have his songs lah. His new album is out and he’s coming here for a concert but the concert tickets are expensive like mad. I don’t rememeber ever having to pay close to RM1000 for a concert ticket (front seats lah) before. But it’s Rain wor….so….maybe….aiyah, dont know lah. I don’t want to sit at the back, that’s for sure. I want to be as close as possible to that body of his. If he throw sweat at me, I won’t shower. Ha ha ha ha ha!!! Siow liao Siow Liao!

Looking the same - it’s because they all spot almost the same hairstyle leh. I was talking to my sister about the new modern hairstyle…long-ish, slightly messy and wavy. It makes you wanna sweep your fingers through their hair.

Eh, wait, this mama is getting out of line. Ahem.
